Terraces to enjoy the sun, chill out, typical Mediterranean cuisine in its original environment, exotic environments that transport you to distant countries, products from the nearby villages of the mountain … A universe to know.
As is logical to be a coastal town, the fish is the protagonist in to many of the preparations, in many cases prepared directly to the grill. The freshness and taste of these treasures of the sea does not require more dressing. Although of course, delicacies like the famous fried fish (“pescaito frito”) should never be neglected. The fish dish preferred by both locals and travelers is usually the classic sardine skewer; Do not forget to try it in the classic moragas or in some restaurant facing the sea. The peculiar sardines to the tile, another dish to emphasize, receive this name by the peculiar arrangement of the fish in the grill. Other delicious specialties from the sea are mullets, well-earned shrimp, octopus salad or the famous salt fish.
From inside comes a very special dish: the “campera” soup.
Tip.- If you want to have good tapas, you can drop by La Casa del Rey where you will conquer your stomach not only for its tapas also for its great variety of wines. If you want some fish, others of our recommendations are: Tasca marinera La Ploma or La Rada Restaurant.
Casares, by its extension offers two types of gastronomy, the one of the mountains and other one from the Coast, emphasizing in the first its rich “pucheros” with “pringá”, stew with chickpeas, meat of slaughter and bacon.
You can also taste a fried goat meat, a very famous animal raised in Casares from which the typical blood sausage is obtained, seasoned with onion to eat accompanied or in stew.
If you want to taste a delicious soup you can choose the gazpacho casareño, continuing with the “Sierra Crestellina” cheeses made with handmade goat’s milk, not forgetting the loaves cooked in the wood oven seasoned with “colorá” butter.
The typical cuisine of the area of the coast stands out for its fried fish, accompanied by a succulent Andalusian gazpacho or a salad made with products from the countryside land. But, undoubtedly, the main dish is the so called moruna of sardines, a kind of marinade garnished with lemon and a little paprika.
The sweet tooth can choose between fried cakes, one of the favorite dishes in the autumn, or the famous homemade “bizcochitos”, which can be taken with honey or chocolate.
Tip.- If you are looking to eat a traditional flavor, we recommend you to eat at Venta García; If you want to taste the sea, drop by the Chiringuito La Sal and Marymar Restaurant (San Luis de Sabinillas).
